About Us
At ORcycle, we are dedicated to collecting and recycling plastic materials from operating theatres that would otherwise be subjected to high temperature incineration (HTI). Our mission is to reduce environmental impact by diverting this waste, supporting sustainability and creating greener healthcare practices.
Healthcare is the fifth biggest cause of global warming in the world with operating theatres accounting for a third of it. With 1.4 metric tons of circular waste produced per hospital bed, per year we have to to take action now to reduce our plastic waste in the Operating Room.
The OR room produces copious amounts of "recently sterile" plastic that requires little processing. We marry up creators of Operating Room waste with those who wish to recycle it.

Frequently Asked Questions
We collect plastic waste generated within operating theatres. We are particularly interested in plastic that would otherwise get incinerated as it is not labelled or used in privileged environments such as the anaesthetic room or scrub zone. Plastic incorrectly thrown into High Temperature Incineration (HTI) bags or sharps bins because it is convenient or the risks are unknown.
By diverting plastics from high temperature incineration, we reduce harmful emissions and conserve resources by reprocessing plastic waste into reusable materials. Much f what is incinerated is not contaminated plastic and much of it is so clean that it was sterile only seconds before it is thrown into the HTI bins.
